ABOUT THE BOOKS
Shared Impressions is truly a creative exchange between the two authors, Dave and Bob. Many of the pieces started with Bob’s paintings. Dave then gave poetic expression to his interpretation and impression of each painting. Some of the pieces started with Dave’s poems to which Bob lent watercolor expression of his interpretation and impression of the poems. Hence, the title, Shared Impressions!
Either way, Shared Impressions is meant to deliver to the reader an opportunity to use their own perception and sense impressions – thoughts, feelings, and experiences – to interpret and enjoy the paintings and the poems. How do the two artistic forms interact with each other? Whether the poem is an interpretation of the painting, or the painting is an interpretation of the poem, how did each artist come to their interpretation and how does your joint interpretation align? As you read along, enjoy the poems in their rhythmic storytelling, pensive reflection, and some, in their downright silliness. Settle into the watercolors as their vibrant hues capture movement, emotion, and the fleeting beauty of the world with a distinctive, dreamlike quality. ABOUT THE AUTHORS
David (Dave) Fares and Robert (Bob) Chisholm met in high school and have been friends for over 50 years. After they retired, they were able to spend more time doing what they loved. One was good with words and one was good with art. They decided to collaborate on a project where each could bring their particular talent together to create something special. Unique in their character, these books, combining Dave's poems and Bob's watercolors are the result of that collaboration.
Dave has been an attorney, a mediator, a learning and performance executive, a leadership coach, trainer, and consultant, and now, an author of poetry. Dave loves wordsmithing and rhyming. His poems are clever and creative expressions of rhythmic stories, pensive reflection, and sometimes quirky silliness. He lives in Carlsbad, CA with his wife, Kathy.
Bob is a freelance creative professional with a unique blend of creative skills combined with strategic marketing communications experience. He has been a lifelong watercolor artist. His watercolor paintings are stunning and deeply thoughtful. He lives in San Diego, CA, with his wife Kathy.
